THE Copper Queens striker and Captain Barbara Banda scored her second hat-trick in China to guide Shanghai Shengli to a 7-0 bashing of Hebei China Fortune in a round 8 Chinese Taiping CFA Women’s League encounter played this morning in Kunming. Barbara came into the match looking to register her name back on the score sheet having failed to do so over the weekend when Shengli suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Wuhan Jiangda. Shengli was also without Li Jiayue and Brazilian defender Camila who are serving 4 and 10 game suspensions respectively following the incidents recorded in the loss to Wuhan.
Shengli opened the scored just after nine minutes, Barbara Banda setting up Tang Jaili who made no mistake from close range to net her seventh goal of the season. Four minutes later the Zambian headed in from close range following a beautiful cross from Yan Jinjin. Barbara grabbed her brace five minutes later as she outpaced two defenders before beating the onrushing Hebei China Fortune goalkeeper following a long ball from goalkeeper Zhao Lina. Wang Linlin made it 4-0 two minutes to the break as she opened her goal account for the season with a fine header.In the second half, Shengli started from where they left off, Tang Jaili netting her second of the match from outside the box just three minutes into the second stanza. Yan Jinjin made it 6-0 after Barbra Banda’s shot was pallied into her path, scoring her first of the season.
